A Cozy 2023 Annual Review Workshop
Monday January 1 at 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST
Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected
Are you ready for 2024? Have you wrung all the juice out of the last 12 months? Join writer and executive coach Jason Shen in making the most of New Year’s Day with a set of journaling exercises that you’ll complete during the salon.
We do not grow wiser simply with time. We must actively reflect on the past in order to appreciate what we’ve experienced, synthesize what we’ve learned, and make intentional plans for the future.
The power of self-reflection perhaps best captured in this quote from Harvard educator Howard Gardner:
“Extraordinary individuals stand out in the extent to which they reflect — often explicitly — on the events of their lives, large as well as small…by seizing the opportunity to leverage and frame these experiences, we gain agency over them. And this heightened agency, in turn, places us in a stronger position to deal with future experiences, even as it may alter our own sense of strengths and possibilities.”
For the better part of a decade, I have been using a 3 part process to look back on the year and plan the future. I ran a public version of this reflection at the end of 2022 and am excited to reprise it to reflect on 2023.
Unlike most discussion salons, we’ll be mostly completing these journaling prompts in silence, with some time between major sections dedicated to discussion and sharing.
- Introductions (12 mins)
- Section 1: Look Back (Moments, Wins, Fails – 24 mins)
- Discussion (12 mins)
- Section 2: Check In (Life Audit, Start-Stop-Continue – 16 mins)
- Discussion (12 mins)
- Section 3: Chart Ahead (Long List, Short List, Systems)
- Discussion + Closing (18 mins)
As an executive coach, I work with venture-backed founders, agency owners, and senior operators to adapt and lead through hard pivots through regular reflection. This workshop is a chance to bring some of that coaching intensity into a group format.
Whether you’re in the middle of a transition or simply want to refine a long-term path you’ve already begun, this annual review is a great way to assess where you are and where you want to go.
Work-along slides will be provided to participants!
