Austin Meetup — Chasing Hints of a Golden Age

At this informal in-person Salon in Austin, Texas, Étienne Fortier-Dubois (currently in the area thanks to Creator Cabins) and Alaka Halder invite you to hang out — and, to the extent that a having a topic might lead to fun conversations, discuss the idea of golden ages.

A golden age is an especially prosperous or transformative period. It’s often defined in retrospect, by comparing to less productive times. But would the people living during a golden age feel it?

And more intriguingly: are we in a golden age right now? This, of course, depends on the we. Is Austin undergoing a golden age? The United States? Other countries? The Western world? All of humanity? In all these cases, what hints are there to say that we are or are not in a golden age?
