Economist and author Erik Brynjolfsson joins host Jason Crawford and the Interintellect community for a SuperSalon on the economics of automation, productivity, and jobs.
How has digital technology driven the reinvention of our lives and our economy, and what will the full impact of these technologies be? What are the opportunities and challenges inherent in technologies such as self-driving cars, 3D printers, and the sharing economy? About the participants:
Prof. Erik Brynjolfsson is a Professor at Stanford and the Director of the Stanford Digital Economy Lab at the Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI). He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and holds appointments at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Stanford Department of Economics. Prof. Brynjolfsson is one of most widely-cited researchers studying the digital economy and co-author of five books including The Second Machine Age.
Jason Crawford is the founder of The Roots of Progress, where he writes and speaks about the history of technology and the philosophy of progress. Previously, he spent 18 years as a software engineer, engineering manager, and startup founder.
