Down the Rabbit Hole: We’re All Mad Here – Camp Curiosity Finale

In the finale of our curiosity series with Helena Ng, let’s join hands once again to build our ultimate virtual playground. We’ll use this exquisite time together to reflect, make notes, and celebrate in the name of play.

Dear curiosity buddy,

‘I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.’

A thousand rabbit holes have been traversed since Camp Curiosity’s first salon back in October 2020. In the pursuit of play, we’ve spent countless hours in collective play and collaboration, and together we have laughed and cried at all the fairytales and tragedies that have transpired since the pandemic began.

Cucumbers were chopped, pigeons were born, LEGO sets have been dusted off the shelves, crazy walls were assembled…I flutter at the thought of our brilliant minds wandering aimlessly, joyously — seeking for the next serendipitous connection.

Despite the lockdowns, frustrations and cancelled plans, I am deeply grateful for all the time we have spent together. There is nothing like watching the fruits of our curiosity grow into a beautiful hivemind. With your generous thirst for curiosity, we have discovered an insatiable magpie syndrome, a plethora of tools that have helped us build our playgrounds. And with your vulnerability, we dove deep into our fears & desires, and lended each other the courage to rebel against the Great Machine. To play without aim or motive.

I hope you’ll remember this delicate moment as deeply as I would. The ability to connect so meaningfully with a group of curious individuals around the world is no small feat. Without you, I wouldn’t have started my own crazy wall, to learn to use RoamResearch, or get better at making friends and Being Online. 

I wonder, what will you take away from this experience? How will you embody the curiosity and playfulness you have re-discovered in yourself? How will you rekindle this in the people you will meet?

With your generous anecdote and wisdom, I wonder how we can discover the ultimate curiosity trail? What is the final shape of our Curiosity Atlas?

And don’t fret, for we will continue our journey through tea parties, RoamResearch…and who knows if we might finally meet up in person?!

I hope you continue to go with the people you trust & admire, and let’s keep a light on for each other in the pursuit of play. To be alive is to celebrate our imagination together.
