Join Interintellect founder Anna Gát at a friendly debate on Greta Gerwig’s movie Barbie. We will explore its style, message, humour, and success – or failure – as a feminist movie!
If you haven’t been living under a rock, you’re probably aware that Greta Gerwig’s movie Barbie is the talk of the town. We debate its style, message, quote its jokes and mimic its pink costumes.
The famous Mattel doll is now a famous piece of cinema. Some say it’s frivolous and superficial. Others say it’s a feminist masterpiece. Such divided opinions accompany Barbie since her debut.
At this casual Interintellect salon we will dive into these debates. We’ll explore whether the movie does or doesn’t work, if it fights or repeats sexist tropes, and whether it speaks to all women or addresses specifically Millennial concerns.
