Epistemology, the theory of knowledge, is often understood as a subject worthy of study, if at all, for the sake of itself. In this salon series, Arkadiusz Synowczyk, a philosophy student specializing in epistemology, will show how this approach is fundamentally misguided.
In this last episode of the series, we will delve into the topic of explanatory reasoning. We will discuss what explanation is and what are the norms of proper explanation. With practical applications across various fields, this thought-provoking episode will empower viewers to harness the power of explanation, enabling them to make informed decisions, solve complex problems, and gain a richer understanding of the world around them.
Arkadiusz Synowczyk is a philosophy student at Newcastle University (UK) and an Interintellect host. He is interested in epistemology, philosophy of science, and philosophy of language, with a particular interest in the problem of induction and the practical applications of philosophy. He has hosted salons on Karl Popper, Thomas Kuhn, and the relationship between religion and science. Besides his academic activities, he develops his YouTube channel and Substack blog where he shares his thoughts and ideas on philosophy and related topics.
