Faith and Progress – with Tara Isabella Burton, Murtaza Hussain, Joseph Keegin, and Zachary Davis

Saturday April 6 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected

Join us in New York City for a discussion of faith and progress with Tara Isabella Burton, Murtaza Hussain, Joseph Keegin, and Zachary Davis – moderated by Susannah Black Roberts. Food and afterparty to follow thanks to Plough Quarterly and Wayfare Magazine.

How does religion inspire and shape visions of progress? Is faith necessary to overcome “decadence”? What is the relationship between spirituality, science, and technology? In this conversation, writers from a variety of religious traditions will articulate their faith’s animating vision of a good and holy society, what they’re doing to realize it, and how they sustain the hope of working towards it.

Each panelist will bring his or her own questions and perspectives to the discussion. Here are some possible directions:

  • How does faith and religion keep culture “healthy” or flowering or just plain old good?
  • Are we decadent because we don’t have enough sacred imagination and energy?
  • And what really might it look like to re-infuse American cultural life with that divine breath?

This event is presented in partnership with Plough Quarterly, Wayfare Magazine, and Higher Ground Education.

Please RSVP. Location details will be shared via email and in the New York channel of the Interintellect community forum.
