Future of Cities – From Blade Runner to Vertical Gardens

In the second salon of a mini-series on urban life, Judit Petho leads an exploration of the places we will inhabit in the decades to come

If you were suddenly transported to a city in 2040, what would you see? Flying cars? Red smoke filling the air like in San Francisco last year? Elevated green walkways? Gardens in the sky, like in Singapore?

Whether you’re a sci-fi fan, an urbanist, a cyclist, a hiker or a fan of electric cars, worried about climate change or not, this is your salon to explore how you want to live in twenty years.

We’ve heard many times that cities around the world are growing constantly and that they are the future of living. But what does that mean? We’ll explore:

• what influences how we imagine the future
• what is the role of a city in your life
• and many other aspects of future city living

To prepare for this salon, just take a walk in your favourite city and neighbourhood and perhaps watch a sci-fi movie set on Earth, like Blade Runner. In any case, bring your imagination and desires.
