Join Michael Sonnenschein, a screen/TV writer with a background in academia, for an introduction on how to write for movies/tv.
Starting as an aspiring writer with an academic background in 2008, I’ve grown my career in Hollywood, merging my interests in economics, social sciences, and storytelling for films and TV. Now in 2023, I’m writing ‘intellectual’ projects for top studios, networks, and streamers.
The journey from 2008 to 2023 was filled with self-learning, hard work, and many trials, eventually transitioning my career from teen soaps to thought-provoking projects, carving my niche and reputation.
Being a screenwriter with academic ties, I’m often sought by friends from the research and social science sectors wanting to write for films/TV, usually connected to their scholarly interests.
This salon is an introduction to such a career. I’ll share insights from my own experience, answer questions, and demystify Hollywood’s processes of acquiring material, hiring writers, and producing content.
If you seek more, I periodically host an 8-week Zoom class exploring these topics in depth. It offers low-cost, high-value learning, individual attention with a class size limited to 8, and a chance to workshop your projects. The next classes, scheduled to suit the North American East Coast and EU timing, are expected to begin in mid-September. More details are available here!
