What do you know about your grandparents?
In order for us to exist, our grandparents needed to exist first.
Even though our grandparents are fundamental to our being, many of us grandchildren don’t know (or never knew) our grandparents very well. This is especially true after the rise of the nuclear family — many of us grow up and raise our children apart from our extended families, thus only seeing our grandparents on occasion.
In this salon, host Gabi Weinberg of StartUpRabbi would like to explore the historical grandparent-grandchild relationship along with our present-day grandparent-grandchild relationships in several different ways:
- We’ll explore the story of Jacob, the biblical epitome of the grandparent-grandchild bond (he chose to bless his grandsons before he blessed his own children).
- I’ll share my own relationship to my grandparents through specific vignettes and stories.
- We’ll open the floor for you to share your stories and perspectives based on your relationship with your own grandparents.
Even if you never knew your grandparents, your life was certainly influenced by their story!
Anyone is welcome to join us and share their stories and experiences.
