Sílvia and Mycelium Mage invite you to join them in creating a new set of rules for communicating in a more grounded, playful and truthful way.
What if we stopped trying to explain the things we’re trying to get at with words? What if we simply tried to express the felt sense of our relationship to those things?
Our conversations are often disembodied – lost in intellectual discourse. We so often forget how speech works, and get sidetracked cooperatively maintaining complex linguistic structures that neither serve us nor our goals. We talk to each other, but rarely fully see each other.
What if we regained our sense of language as a technical art – a medium we can play within, practice with, develop our individual technique and style, and become masterful in? What if bringing poetry and metaphor into our conversations could reground them and give our relationships momentum? What if you felt free to play with many ways to say the same thing? What if we created space where that felt possible? What if our communication at its most truthful, artful, and useful is simply co-creation with others?
This salon is a fingerpainting session and woodshop class. But there will be no fingerpaints and no hand tools. Only words. And metaphors. Constructed with participants in real time over the internet.
Language is play in the ocean of broad, societal-scale metaphors. This salon is play in the smaller, quiet tide pool of individual, cottage industry metaphors. This is a space to act and observe effects of communicative choices which are often lost in larger waves.
