In this salon Patricia Hurducas leads a discussion on places for thinking and how the places we live in and work in impact our thought processes, mood, creativity, choices, and how we feel.
We will start the discussion by looking at the places for thinking (study rooms/cafés/libraries/ateliers) of artists and scientists from Matisse’s art studio to Einstein’s study room. How does the architecture of a place impact our thinking? What contributes to the atmosphere/vibe of a space? Do we need to change our surroundings to change our thinking? How can we design our study rooms and ateliers to boost our creativity and ignite our imagination?
Other topics that we will explore:
- the aesthetics of places
- the cathedral effect
- genius loci
- atmospheric architecture
- light and space
- psychogeography
