Shared Narrative of Emotions: A Metaphor Building Workshop by Camp Curiosity
December 4, 2021 at 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm EST
Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected
ii’s very own Camp Curiosity invites you to a wholesome gathering to inspect our emotional experiences through collective metaphor building with hosts Helena Ng, Luke Butler, and Jeeva Vijay Prasath
Whether it’s as stiff as a dead leaf, or as tumultuous as the rolling storm…we each experience a wide range of emotions that are rooted in our own unique biology and psychology. Have you ever wondered how others experience the same emotion? Could it be that larger cultural and societal forces affect our emotional experiences? Not to mention, our very own memories or trauma? Is there a way for us to map each of our unique experiences into a rich cartography of collective emotions?
In this workshop salon, Camp Curiosity members co-host a novel metaphor-building game developed through our curious explorations together. Participants will hand-pick an emotion from the feelings wheel and everyone is encouraged to come up with metaphors to describe their relationship with that particular emotion. Then, we’ll discuss the metaphors and try to stitch them together in search of collective meaning.
This salon is perfect for those who are looking to experience different textures in emotions and to gain a wider understanding of the human condition, as perceived through another individual’s metaphor. We invite you to participate with a light heart and deep curiosity.
Note: We’re experimenting with different time zones. If this time doesn’t work for you, watch out for our upcoming sessions in January & February 2022 (US morning, Europe evening) !
About Camp Curiosity
Camp Curiosity is a group of curious Interintellect members who first found each other through Helena Ng’s Down the Rabbit Hole salon series. During one particular salon which lingered into a passionate, 5-hour discussion on emotional awareness, the group of kindred spirits developed a spontaneous game of metaphoring and exchanged personal stories to understand more about each other’s emotions.
