Tarot Study Group: Reading Round Robin for Tarot Readers of All Levels

Join tarot reader Joseline Yu to explore the nuances of tarot through reading cards for one another. 

In a tarot reading, cards are picked to make a layout full of advice. This advice can help solve problems and let you look deep into the depths of your subconscious. While each card in a tarot deck has its own meaning, how it relates to the question being asked in a reading varies from reader to reader, from querent to querent. 

In this salon, we’ll take turns giving readings and having others read the cards in our spread. We’ll discuss the readings given and the nuances in the cards’ symbolism, as well as the unique narrative that arises from a specific combination of cards in a spread. Join us as we practice interpreting what the cards have to show us and enrich our understanding of tarot. 

Salon Overview

We will first warm up through doing a one-card reading for ourselves and discuss the card that we have drawn. Then we will begin the round robin for giving one another a three-card reading. Here’s how it works:

1.  Two participants take on the roles of querent and reader.
2. The querent asks a question for the reading and chooses one kind of three-card spread (e.g. Past-Present-Future, Situation-Challenge-Outcome).
3. The reader selects three cards from their deck, reveals them and interprets how they answer the question presented at the start of the reading.
4. The querent may request for the reader to elaborate further and ask any questions about the reader’s interpretation.
5. Other participants share feedback, suggestions and thoughts based on the reading.
6. For the next round, the reader becomes the next querent and chooses another participant to be the next reader.

By the end of the salon, each participant will have given and received at least one reading.

What to bring

A physical tarot deck or a digital one from a tarot mobile app such as Labyrinthos. A deck with illustrations based on the Rider-Waite deck is recommended but not required.
