Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected
Visual artist turned medical educator Alexa Miller will host this salon centering experiences with visual art as a catalyst for expansion, innovation, connection, bias awareness, and shameless enjoyment.
The second in the 6-episode Joy of Looking series, this Salon asks What Did the Water Give? We will look at a selection of works by artist Frida Kahlo that truly, delightfully, and sometimes painfully confound. After close looking at these works, we’ll work as a community to address some of the questions they raise. Like all Salons in this series, the Visual Thinking Strategies approach will guide our in-depth interactions with works of art through our collective perspectives.
We will look at a selection of Frida’s work that feature — amidst a wide range of themes — water. Through close looking, we will harvest questions raised by the works of art, and answer them in a correspondence of observation and inquiry. The final section of the Salon we will focus our efforts on consideration of the theme of water and what it might be saying in Kahlo’s work, through close looking.
