What does it mean to approach psychotherapy in a philosophical way? The aim of this salon is to talk through that question in a principled and imaginative way. Join Boston-based psychotherapist and philosopher John T. Maier.
This salon will specifically address the ways in which philosophy may be brought to bear on therapeutic practice:
• Is there a place for philosophy in therapy, or are these simply distinct enterprises?
• Is psychoanalysis a philosophy?
• What do we think of the project of “philosophical counseling”?
• What are the philosophical roots of behavioral therapies (such as CBT/DBT/ACT)?
