In this salon, Interintellects Bronwyn Williams and Jim O’Shaughnessy explore the philosophy of subjectivity by looking at the popular cartoon show, Rick and Morty.
“Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody’s gonna die.” ~ Rick and Morty
“Perception doesn’t create reality, it is reality.” ~ Jed McKenna
In this salon we dive deep into just how weird reality really is and back out the other side again with Jim O’Shaughnessy.
To do this we will unpack the hidden and not so hidden philosophy of Rick and Morty (and other popular movies) and discuss what the show has in common with Jed McKenna’s writings around Spiritual Enlightenment.
The conversation will cover simulation theory, why our perceptions and metal “maps” don’t match reality, breaking bad habits, questioning our beliefs, letting go of fear, overcoming the ego, and enlightenment and all sorts in-between.
Join us to talk about finding meaning in life, the universe and everything.
“all belief systems are just the stories we create in order to deal with the void. Ego abhors a vacuum, so everybody’s scrambling to create the illusion of something where there’s nothing. Belief systems are simply the devices we use to explain away the unthinkable horror of no-self.” ~ Jed McKenna
