In this salon, Podcast Librarian and Writer Norman Chella explores the concept of writing with purpose: from writing in your journal, to letters to a cherished one, readers on a blog, or note-taking. In each situation, we have a persona in mind, and fully articulating these personas will help us discover ourselves more.
When putting pen to paper:
- How do we sound like when we write for ourselves?
- Does our audience resonate with a specific type of writing and voice? What would that be?
- How do we seek balance between biased writing and authenticity?
From exploring your relationship with POV-based writing, to emotional resonance with words, Norm invites you to explore your own articulation. Who is the You that writes for others? Who is the You that writes for yourself? This will in turn, help you discover the Writing Personas that you hold dear to your heart. They are the Why to your writing, the raison d’être for pen to paper.
What to Do/Bring
- Bring something to write/type with! We’ll do 3 quick writing exercises throughout the salon, as we’re talking and discovering more about our writing.
- If you feel comfortable, bring something that you’ve written recently! We can take a look together to see what emotional resonance/persona it contains, and see if our perspectives can help with your writing.
Optional
