“Practical men who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influence, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist. Madmen in authority, who hear voices in the air, are distilling their frenzy from some academic scribbler of a few years back” ~ John Maynard Keynes
Welcome to a salon track exploring those “defunct economists” whose ideas are still shaping the world around us, and the new ideas that are “lying around”, ready in wait, to change our world again.
Each salon in this ongoing track will revisit one of the lesser-known dead economists and discuss how their ideas have evolved and been changed and championed by contemporary thinkers, writers, philosophers, politicians, and economists.
After all, ideas change the world. Best we understand them.
Hosted by: Bronwyn Williams and Peter Isztin
