Join Charlene Putney for Dead Writers’ Society: a series of participatory experimental writing workshops using AI.
There’s a lot of hype around writing and AI lately. Some folks are excited about productivity gains. Some folks regard the whole idea with horror. But there’s a whole world of experimental writing with AI outside of the mainstream.
In this 3-part series we’re going to explore and delve into the collective unconscious. Part séance, part archaeology dig – in this series we’ll work in the tradition of William Burroughs and Brion Gysin with a new form of digital cut-up technique using writewithlaika.com: writing with fine-tuned language models trained to write in the “voices” of specific long-dead writers to see what future art we can scry from fragments of the past.
These sessions will be highly creative and participatory: we’ll be making new work together as a temporary collective. Whatever we create will be created by all of us. Your presence is your signature.
No prior reading required. No homework. All you need is a computer connected to the internet and a keen sense of curiosity. Just pure, fizzing, human-pattern-recognition-machine creative sparks flying! Join us?
Afterwards, we’ll publish everything we created all together in a beautiful online zine which will hit the internet in September 2023!
All you need is a computer connected to the internet and a keen sense of curiosity.
