In this salon, Jennifer A. Frey, associate professor of philosophy at the University of South Carolina, will discuss these questions in light of her recent essay on this topic in The Point magazine.
What is a University education for? What is “higher” about “higher education”? Is there any meaningful difference between a University education and vocational training? If so, what is this difference? How should we think about the liberal arts and the Humanities in the twenty first century, and what light do philosophy and theology have to shine on these questions?
