Join host Crystal Duan for an intimate talk with writer and speaker Laetitia Vitaud discussing how we see childcare in today’s global society.
“Women’s work, whether paid or unpaid, is valued less. Yet there would be no productivity without the care and support of largely female work. It’s high time we learned to value it more!” – Laetitia Vitaud
Laetitia Vitaud is a speaker and author on the future of work with a feminist perspective. With an educational background in France but knowledge of American studies, she helps organizations around the world restructure their values around work and equity. She is an expert in “employer branding for the new work generation” from a global perspective.
If you want to hear comparisons between motherhood in Europe and America, this salon is for you. Or if you’re like Crystal and considering motherhood as you enter your 30’s but are unsure how to make an informed decision in today’s age, join us to discuss!
Laetitia emphasizes that whether you’re a parent or not, the definition of “motherhood” affects us all in a time where our work infrastructure and existential preoccupations around marriage and nuclear families is shifting.
In the midst of this complex time, this salon conversation brought to the Interintellect community will center on how we look at self-sacrifice, childcare, feminism, the declining birthrate globally, and how we can work toward a better tomorrow, regardless of “mother” or not!
We will discuss how what it means to be a mother has varied so much throughout history and geography, the paradox of being a successful parent vs worker, the jobs of a society to help raise children, “parent shaming” on social media and the double standards of it all.
Crystal [not a parent, but now of the age to be a mother] and Laetitia [a mother, who’s been thinking about this work for decades] invite you to come through and share your own questions and philosophies.
