Join Isabela Granic, developmental psychologist, as she and participants explore how philosophy and psychology can be put into practice to change the way we think, collaborate, and create.
This salon will introduce participants to a variety of conceptual frameworks that will be translated into creative, collective practices. These collective practices are designed to harness group dynamics and to call forth our unique creative gifts. The session will be deeply interactive, focusing on small-group interactions that will help us build trust, harmonize mindsets, and concoct special forms of creative chemistry.
We’ll start with short and simple trust-building exercises. Then we’ll move to the introduction of a new methodology for healthy philosophical inquiry called “Neither/Nor” (developed by Bryan Kam). Some of the basic lessons from the methodology will be translated into easy-to-enact social practices meant to tap into different modes of knowing. We will practice differentiating logical and intuitive expressions of knowledge and shifting between those different modes. The salon will end with our collective investigation into the relevance of these set of practices to day-to-day life.
NOTE: This will likely be the first of several salons in a series focused on creative collective practices. We will decide as a group at the end of the salon what directions attendees are most interested in investigating and the varied philosophical and psychological practices that feel most important to explore in our next salons.
