AI regulation is moving from suggested guidelines to the full force of the law as the EU gets ready to pass its EU AI Act. Kevin Schawinski an astrophysicist and startup founder in the AI space will moderate a discussion on how this will impact how we engage with AI.
The EU is looking to treat many common AI applications such as facial recognition and credit scoring in a highly regulated way, similar to medical devices. New requirements for fairness, accuracy and robustness for data and models will make it much more difficult and expensive to develop AI-based products and services. And the global reach of the EU’s regulatory powers means that researchers and companies across the world need to pay attention.
