Mentorship for Hosts

Hosting fantastic events is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding ways to spend your time. As an Interintellect salon host, you share your knowledge, learn from others, build a community around important ideas, and even earn extra income!

In addition to the “Host Greenroom” channel on our community forum, the “Host Hub” on our website, and our regular Host Training events, we’re now launching our new Host Mentoring Program!

Come and learn 1:1 in coaching sessions from some of our top Interintellect hosts. You’ll learn how to set up an event, choose a topic, make everyone in the room comfortable, and promote it. Our mentors are more than happy to share their trade secrets, because we believe that the art of hosting should be open to everyone.

Whether you’re into philosophy, technology, art, psychology, or history, come change the world one great conversation at a time!

Hosts Run the World

“From being an Interintellect salon attendee to hosting my own salons has been a profound journey of self-discovery and finding amazing people who have turned into friends that I can call upon, despite sometimes being continents between us. Hosting has been such an enriching experience where the initial hesitancy of bringing my thoughts and ideas on a public platform, quickly transformed into connecting with like minded fellow Interintellects who are encouraging, kind, and thoughtful. If you have been on the fence with hosting, I would encourage you to take a leap of faith, because truly on the other side are soulful friendships and brilliant conversations that will leave you mesmerized.” — Tanya Raj

Jason Shen

Mentor description: Being a host is a delicate balance of stage setting, inviting, guiding, contributing, and synthesizing. When done well, hosting a salon can create lasting memories for you and your attendees, but when done poorly, can lead to dreary or uncomfortable experiences. As an Interintellect host as well as an executive coach, product manager, and workshop facilitator, I want to help you, a curious and kind spirit, brush up on some skills and gain the confidence you need to host a fantastic salon.

Availability: Every Friday 9 am – 11 am Eastern

Pricing: $100/hr (it will be donated to Jason’s charity of choice Lunar Accel)

Irene Jena Karthik

Mentor description: This mentorship journey is a partnership where we will collaborate on various aspects of salon
hosting. We will work together to identify and address challenges unique to you. Just as I overcame self-doubts and fears when I started hosting, I’m here to support you in managing
your own nerves. Salon hosting is‌ a communal endeavour, and every facet must harmonize to
create an enriching experience.

Mary Bajorek

Mentor description: Hosting is an art. There are as many ways to be a host as there are unique people. Drawing on my experience as a coach, an Interintellect Fellow and a workshop facilitator, we’ll figure out together what is your unique hosting persona that you can use to shape engaging salons for both you and the attendees. We’ll dive into what you enjoy about hosting, what topics are the most fascinating for you to facilitate, what you want to experiment with and how to infuse it all into every aspect of the process, from the listing to the salon recap.

Availability: Wednesdays 8am – 11am PST starting November 15th

Pricing: $100 USD/hr

Taylor Pullinger

Mentor description: Taylor has been hosting Interintellect salons since August 2020, both online and IRL in New York. She can help you navigate your hosting journey from crafting a topic and reading selection (her own salons tend to follow science and shared human experience themes), to handling salon dynamics like co-hosting, managing big and small rooms, and facilitating discussion. Taylor can help set you up for your first salon, as well as follow up with reflection and feedback as you grow into a seasoned host.

Availability: Oct 9th onward

Hourly rate: $50 USD/hr

“My hosting experience has been a source of intellectual and emotional nourishment. But that’s table stakes. The bigger joy, particularly in co-hosting, has been making incomparable friendships of depth, curiosity and generosity within the community.” — Amir H. Hajizamani

“Hosting was extremely rewarding. It’s a great way to engage with your audience if you have one and an even better way to meet people who are interested your area of expertise or interest. The process is drop dead simple and the team is tremendously supportive. If there’s a better way to spend a few hours getting paid, I’m not sure I know of it.” — Sean Hughes
