Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected

Free

Join members of the “Gödel, Escher, Bach” book club in reading through David Deutsch’s “The Beginning of Infinity.” Share the pleasure of wrestling with a challenging, thought-provoking book with the help of friendly peers’ additional eyes, hearts, minds, and experiences.

Maybe you heard about it on Naval‘s podcast, or perhaps you follow the father of quantum computing himself on Twitter. However you’ve become acquainted with the book, join A. Lowell Richardson and other members of the Gödel, Escher, Bach crew in exploring David Deutsch’s acclaimed The Beginning of Infinity, an “exploration of the nature and progress of knowledge.”

Our 15-salon series continues with Chapter 13: “Choices” and Chapter 14: “Why are Flowers Beautiful?” What kinds of political institutions meet Popper’s criterion? What are the no-go theorems of mathematicians Michael Balinski and Peyton Young, and economist Kenneth Arrow? Are elegant aesthetics a heuristic guide to truth? Come discuss these and further questions with other curious minds.

This is a members only event. Please sign in to RSVP.
