Girlified: The Eco-Friendly Sanitary Pad with Oghenekevwe Emadago

Join Oghenekevwe Emadago as he discusses Girlified, his groundbreaking project that tackles both pollution and barriers to education and employment for women and girls! The meeting will be hosted by Jasmine George, a women’s health tech industry founder. 

Oghenekevwe is an environmental activist, entrepreneur, and female rights advocate. Over the past five years, he has worked closely with youths in remote villages in Nigeria. While there, he discovered the acute problem of period poverty affecting women and girls in their communities, as well as the issue of plastic pollution from conventional sanitary pad use.

As a recipient of an OSV fellowship, Oghenekevwe is researching and developing Girlified—an eco-friendly and cost-effective sanitary pad made from banana fiber and natural cotton—with the goal of reducing pollution and helping women and girls in their quest for education and employment.
