Masterpieces of Insight: Turning Everyday Data Into Art

Fellow InterIntellect Nastasia Griffioen discusses the power of visualisation in this hands-on Salon about turning everyday data into art

“Almost every single company has data about us. But what about how we feel, and what we think? Our innermost private patterns and workings may yet remain a mystery to big tech giants (for how long?), but they need not remain a mystery to ourselves.

In this salon inspired by Georgia Lupi’s design work, I invite participants to a hands-on introspection and creation experience. Together, we will explore the power of creating your own, personal data, and transforming these into works of art. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never drawn a circle before in your life: together, we’ll create our own visual language to systematically yet creatively give shape to the everyday patters of our lives.

Homework :

No prior experience is necessary, but to be able to make the most out of this salon, please think of four phenomena in your everyday life that you would want to visualise. During the salon, we will first dive into creating our own individual language to represent these phenomena, after which you will put your newfound toolset to use: creating a portrait of your last two days. We will end by discussing the processes and insights garnered by everyone.” – Salon Host Nastasia Griffioen (website)
