On Grief: The Shaping of the Foundation of Ourselves

February 2, 2021 at 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm CET

Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected

Fellow Interintellect Ruth Apps explores grief. Can we control the form of expression, the acceptance, its impact on our life?

“And you, my father, there on that sad height,

Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

Dylan Thomas

“At this Interintellect Salon we will explore the impact of grief on our lives, communities and society. Our responses as an individual, and as a society.

Does grief differ if it is individual or collective? Can you feel a country, population, mourning? What do we learn about such things? Are rituals important to provide a framework to keep us moving through grief? Do we need to feel something positive must be at the end? What great works of art, science and innovation are developed, from great expressions of grief? There are many expressions and directions to explore, please join us to do so.

The participants of the Salon will be encouraged to discuss during the salon their reflections on grief in arts, great scientific works, and their own communities and lives. We will explore, the way grief shapes us, and how we have to choose to face it, and the fear of stepping into the unknown, with our emotions heightened.

Join us for this evening of warmth, listening, and discussions about grief, its impact, and how we navigate our way through.” – Salon Host Ruth Apps
