Since the industrial revolution, technology has been seen as at odds with the natural world. Since then, the environmentalist message has been that we must slow down technological development and its industrial products to save the environment.
More recently, efforts like Terraformation have demonstrated that science and technology are integral parts of environmentalism, and technological progress might be the best hope for conserving—and restoring—the natural world.
