Weathering the Storm: Cultivating Resilience

March 2, 2021 at 9:00 pm - 12:00 am SAST

Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected

In this Interintellect Salon, Taylor Pullinger will lead a discussion on resilience – in people, in nature, in systems.

Sometimes things go wrong – it’s how we respond that makes all the difference. In the face of adversity we could break down and give up, we could rigidly stand firm against it, or we could be flexible and adapt, our resilience providing the opportunity to keep growing tomorrow.

We’ll explore questions like, “What is the difference between robustness, resilience, and antifragility, and when is the right time for each? How can we develop resilience? How can we prepare now so that we’ll be resilient when hard times inevitably arise? Can we learn lessons on resilience from tropical forests battered by hurricanes? What growth can come from disaster?”

“Blest, they are truly blest who all their lives have never tasted devastation” – Antigone, Sophocles
