Jason Crawford

About me:

I write about the history of technology and the philosophy of progress at The Roots of Progress, and I’m deeply involved in the progress community/movement. Previously, I spent 18 years as a software engineer, engineering manager, and startup founder. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Currently I’m hosting a series of salons, The Story of Industrial Civilization, based on the research I’m doing for a new book. Join me to learn about the discoveries and inventions that created the modern world and the standard of living we now enjoy.

I’m interested in science, technology, history, philosophy, psychology—broadly, how the world works, and how we can change it for the better.

I’m known for popular posts on the history of the bicycle and a very entertaining thread about cement (yes, really!)
