Who are we to talk about Teilhard de Chardin’s ambitious infusion of philosophical theology and science?
We believe it takes a team of enthusiasts to honestly attend to Teilhard de Chardin. Thus, we are embracing a Philosopher (PhD Researcher) named Christophe Porot, Twitter @PorotChristophe; a Neuropsychologist (PhD, Post Doc Researcher) named Donald Frederick, Twitter @neurofoo; and, finally, a Documentarian and Radial Poet named Andrada Noaghiu, Twitter @Andrada_noa.
Teilhard de Chardin was a Jesuit scientist who proclaimed radical, hope based, reinterpretations of theological positions in light of the advancement of science. His cosmic vision expanded the possibilities belonging to humanity’s co authorship of the destiny of the Cosmos, a Cosmos which would find its full arrival in the form of a future God who is ever beckoning us to come closer through an evolutionary process that generates coherence and unity over time, beginning with incoherent atoms which formulate themselves into humanity as humanity formulates the universe in turn. We want to discuss some of the key questions generated by his enchanting vision, through a carefully organized and inspiring meditation on the core components of Teilhard’s philosophical theology and its implications on broad dialogues such as the following:
- What is the reconciliation of Science and Religion?
- Can a religious vision endure post Darwin?
- Are Medieval theologians too uninformed of the progress of science to exercise the control over our intellectual accounts of existence that they currently do?
- What is the value of Hope? How can we tend to hope?
We will enjoy the process of analysing passages from our shared reading and explorations!!!
