Play Like a Child – How and Why

Debut Interintellect host Reddy2go leads a special ‘playshop’ salon.

If play is the opposite of work, is playshop the opposite of workshop? Join us to discover the answer to such inanely profound inquiries into the mysteries of the universe, as we know it.

We’re going to travel back in time to recover our lost inner child and bring it back to life. This salon is all about exploring the importance of play in the life of an adult. Come join hands and build a kindergarten for adults.

We’ll break the salon into three sections: stop, rewind and play

In the first section, we’re gonna explore what it takes to stop working. If you’re a student, feel free to replace work with study. Whether work or study, the cessation of pursuing purpose is what we’re gonna be playing with.

Section two is a step backward. Where we come from is where we’re going to. Let’s rewind and rekindle the fun times as kids. Also don’t hesitate to replay the not-so-fun times. Let’s try and find that point in time when we stopped playing and started taking life seriously (adulting?).

Now we’re ready to play! This section explores how we can play as adults, by ourselves, and with others. The sillier and simpler the games, the better your chances of jumping in effortlessly. Preferably primal and low/no-tech play.

It’s not a typo. I don’t want you to read anything before this salon. But I would like you to seed your mind with some thoughts:

– Your 5 best memories as a child
– Your best friend(s) growing up
– What was your favorite toy
– Ideal ratio of playtime : worktime
– Is play frivolous or serious

All you need to do is think. You can dig within for insights. From past experiences, present observations, or future contemplations. You can observe nature, and converse with people. Just play with your thoughts till we meet to share them in the salon.
