The Life of Others – Living the Immigrant Experience

October 27, 2021 at 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm CEST

Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected

“These days, it feels to me like you make a devil’s pact when you walk into this country.” – Zadie Smith, White Teeth

Join engineer and [training] mathematician Meghan Kane (an American in Berlin) and Interintellect founder Anna Gát (a triple immigrant of Hungarian origin) as we wade through the many aspects of the immigrant experience, from fitting in to making sense, from those left at home to building a home, from antifragility to new support networks, and whether the feelings of Otherness are with us to stay.

Our global community is thrilled to invite you to a safe and casual discussion of the immigrant‘s experience–our lives as the Others.

As Interintellects we are intimately familiar with the role of being an outsider, which for many of us is combined with living far away from where we originally come from, pursuing education or love, professional success or contemplative silence, or all of these, wanting all. How we relate to the new world around us and how it relates to us never stops fascinating…

We hope you will join this very special salon, share your own stories, and perhaps find answers to some of the questions that have been on your mind ever since you first left home.
