Wednesday October 16 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm BST
Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected
How do you heal a rift across time and space? Documentary film-maker Kiubon Kokko will talk about his experience of transforming life into art in this exclusive fireside chat with fellow film-maker and Interintellect host Olga Yakimenko.
In 2023, Kiubon Kokko was awarded a $100,000 fellowship grant by O’Shaughnessy Ventures to create a feature documentary about his father’s 10-12 hour swim from communist China to Hong Kong in 1973. In this salon, Kiubon will talk about what led to him undertake this project: the challenges he and his family faced in the aftermath of his father’s remarkable feat, the surprises he stumbled upon in his journey, and the compassion that he cultivated along the way.
What role does culture play in the establishment of our sense of identity? How does it feel to travel back in time in search of the truth? And what’s next? Learn all this and more during this one-off event.
This event will be recorded.
