Creating Spaces for Vulnerability and the Boundaries Between Our Offline and Online Selves
September 27, 2021 at 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm BST

In this salon, Charlie Smart will explore vulnerability and its power to connect and ground us.
Vulnerability may have the tired gloss of an of-the-moment cultural currency. Yet, it is also a foundational element of being human. We walk lives of uncertainty and ambiguity. It is by inhabiting our vulnerability generously that, in the words of poet David Whyte, we become “larger, more courageous and more compassionate”.
The salon will explore vulnerability as an animating force for connection; to others and to our deepest selves. It will ask how vulnerability is fostered across communities, and examine its relationship across our online and offline selves.
How do we create spaces for vulnerability? What is the role of anonymity or community? Online and offline? And what does that mean for communities like the ii?
All proceeds from this event will go to Give Directly.
