Jay Cousins is an inventor who loves to explore alternative processes, methods, systems, and products. He’s especially interested in increasing Material Literacy, Adaptive Capacity and Growing Habitat.

This event about MakerLabs (Co-created Festivals of Making) will explore the hows and whys of the MakerLab process – events that combine just enough Order to unleash the unexplored Chaotic potential of a community to share knowledge, skills and passion in a festival of making and co-creativity.

Jay has facilitated many such events in Berlin and Egypt, each time the event manifesting some deep need – from community makerspaces, to work opportunities, and even Love.

In this Salon Jay will:

Introduce the MakerLab process, event outcomes and connected chaordination methods

Explore how they can be modified to suit the needs of others

Consider failings, challenges, and opportunities for increasing legacy

Reading List:

Reflections on the MakerLab experience

MakerLab builds on ideas from BarcampsUnConferences and Open Space

A snapshot of a part of the process (nb. I’m terrible at documentation, hopefully this salon is a chance to rectify that ;))
