Poetic Explorations: Change and Transitions

A poem is like a rite of passage. A poem manifests in myriad forms—a wise sage from beyond, a friend, a torchbearer showing us light.

Join us in this mini salon series, where we — Irene Karthik and Tanya Raj — attempt to travel through landscapes of our everyday life with poems for company.

The series is all about feelings and emotions that poems evoke as we go through our lives. Many of us have encountered the push and pull of poems that speak to us differently as we deal with life’s sorrows and joys. In each episode, we will look at different themes and dive into poems, the poet and their presence in our lives. Think of this as a cosy, intimate evening where poems are all that matter.

Our selection of poetry will be listed in the individual salon listings, and we invite you to bring your selections on the themes as well.Please bring some art supplies with you to the salons, as we will have a combination of art, music, short poetry writing activities.

PS: Any poems written by participants during this series will get an opportunity to be published on the Interintellect site!

In Part 3, we will ponder and reflect on the ebbs and flows of Changes and Transitions with poems.

Our individual lives are a mirror of the altering seasons. Most of us go undergo through life changing phases through different stages of our existence. The climatic undertones of these changes differ based on the circumstances. Some changes are easy to integrate while there are some that can take a lifetime to accept.

Can poems act as a container to hold us in those times of ambiguity? What are some of the poems that have helped you during times of change?
