Why do some places fill us with joy and peace, and others drain us? Join behavioral economist Nathalie Rachel Sinyard to discuss how features of places - their shapes, materials, scents, and sounds - trigger changes in our health, mood, and cognition and how we can use that knowledge to thrive.

We all know the experience of sitting in a particular space and feeling energized, inspired, and refreshed. And we’ve all tried and failed to be productive in a place that drains our energy and blunts our motivation. So what distinguishes these places? Explore research in cognitive neuroscience and psychology that demonstrate how places are central to our well-being, health, social lives, and sense of self.

What can we apply to our own working spaces to improve our own physical, mental, and emotional health?

What specific environments induce specific responses in us?
