Tao and Ava will be talking about his critically praised fourth novel, an “artful, radical” book in which the main character rejects Western medicine, experiments with psychedelics, spends time with his parents, and takes 500,000 words worth of notes. Come join them to discuss themes including:
- Tao’s writing process and how it has evolved over time
- Self-directed learning and rejection of conventional social wisdom
- Mindfulness and how it intersects with art
- Asian-American identity
Tao Lin is the author of 10 books of prose and poetry. He founded the independent press Muumuu House and a film production company called MDMAfilms. He has documented his personal transformation over the course of the past two decades through his prolific writing, and has written essays on topics like autism, dominator vs partnership cultures, physics and more.
