Experimental Writing: Creative Toolbox Series – Session Three
Thursday March 23 at 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm CET
Start time where you are: Your time zone couldn't be detected
The blank page can be a fearsome enemy. Writer, teacher and experimenter Char Putney knows this all too well. But we don’t have to approach it with too much seriousness — there’s never been a more exciting time to play with words.
In this 3-part series, we’ll get hands-on with experimental writing techniques from many different traditions, ultimately seeking the one that’s just right for what we’re working on now.
Session One: Paper & Pen Techniques -> from cut-up technique, to prompts, to Oulipo methods, and beyond! Let’s scratch up some pages and make some wild creations. January 19th 2023.
Session Two: Mechanical Techniques -> from volvelles to procedural poetry. Putting the mystery into a machine and programming some soul. February 23rd 2023.
Session Three: Digital Techniques -> using AI to work with the brains of long-dead writers, crafting exquisite corpses, and bouncing idea to illustration and back again. March 23rd 2023.
Afterwards, everyone who attended any of the sessions can submit one experimental piece they worked on and we’ll publish them all together in a beautiful online zine which will hit the internet in April 2023!
In each session, we’ll go slow and steady — holding hands as we venture forth, with plenty of time for questions and iterations.
No advance reading necessary — before every session we’ll send out an email with approximately 5-10 minutes of prep work. All you need is a computer connected to the internet and a keen sense of curiosity.
Come join Char for a creative & communal experience! ❤️
