Louis Bijl de Vroe and Simon Ohler (that’s us) are philosophers and brothers in spirit. We are the founders of Spiritual Mischief, a podcast that combines culture, comedy, and ancient wisdom. In this salon series, we offer you a peek into our studies.
Based on the eastern philosophy of The Dao, and the book that Dr. Jaap Voigt wrote on the topic, we show you how to synchronize your life and your work with the flow of the seasons, and find your balance and unlock your natural creativity. Please refer to the salon series page for more info.

August: Consolidation of what has been acquired
In the way we study and experience the seasons, August is the start and the first month of autumn. Autumn is about strength, contemplation and preparation. While summer was about making your ideas fully present in the world, autumn is about ripening and consolidation.
In August, you can act very naturally and open yourself to what is coming at you. Both your comprehension and work capacity are greater than normal.
This month is about being with people. It brings with it feelings of solidarity, openness and neighborly love.
Now, you prepare, ready yourself, and create order via structures that can breathe. Set up your agenda for autumn, and make clear agreements with others. This order will grant you flexibility for the remainder of the year.
This period is about doing and abstaining based on your dignity. This dignity does not depend on possession or social status, but rather on your natural talents and inborn qualities. In this period, these qualities can start to take shape.
