The Art of Science-Based Decision-Making – SuperSalon with Emily Oster

August 20, 2021 at 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

$35.00
Psychologist and psychology professor Gena Gorlin invites you to a SuperSalon with our friend Emily Oster, economist and bestselling author, on how to make data-driven decisions even about our most intimate matters, whether doing so is always good, and how COVID has changed our attitude to facts of science.

What can and can’t science tell you about how to live your life? Can you make truly informed, independent-minded decisions about your diet, your mental health, or your child’s education without becoming an expert yourself?

In this epic SuperSalon, Interintellect host Gena Gorlin, academic and practicing psychologist, will sit down with Emily Oster – economics professor at Brown University and renowned author of two (soon to be three!) game-changing bestsellers on data-driven parenting. Together we will explore the role of data in driving decisions about everything from breastfeeding to breaking up with a therapist.

Without shying from the controversies or the complexities, we’ll grapple with the question of how to think critically and responsibly about the claims of scientific experts, and where your own judgment and values have to come into it.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to Mercy Corps
