Complaints about today’s friendships abound: social media has made us selfish, COVID has made us lonely, working and raising children have made us too busy to socialise. Indeed, there are countless accounts out there to suggest the era of adult friendships, if there ever was one, is over. Netflix algorithms and newspaper headlines will try to convince you that the financial and night-time freedoms which adulthood provides cannot improve on our social lives even a little bit.

And yet in the 2020s we’re also live through a proliferation of online communities and DAOs. A Great Resignation and relocation wave has sent individuals and families out into the wild to find more suitable ways of life. A pluralism of taste in pop culture and romantic setups ensures no preference of ours remains unmatched.
