Play and Creativity: Better Together

We, Reddy2go and Eyal Shay chose to join hands and play together for our next salon. Join us for a salon celebrating collaboration, openness, levity, yea-saying, and reciprocal creativity.

Individuals may boast success or be enthroned, yet no-one has ever achieved anything great alone. Every great leap toward survival and progress was only achieved thanks to our ability to cooperate and look after one another. After all, even Asterix and Obelix needed Getafix and the rest of the village to take on Julius Caesar & the might of the Roman Army.

Mythology and history tend to eulogize a singular hero, but life is a multiplayer game. Children are instinctually aware of the magic of playing together, but adults choose all too often to collaborate as a response to being given a personal prize or punishment. Despite depending on the work of many to achieve outcomes, colleagues often compete for superior personal reputation, looking askance at potential friends.

Being a better player in the game of life requires one to play together, not alone. To flourish collectively we must evolve our modern systems designed to spur individual competitiveness into ones embracing cooperation and appreciation of others.

History shows us that progress is easiest made when ideas are exchanged peacefully and generously while standing on the shoulders of giants. It is also rife with stories of polities succumbing to deleterious actions motivated by egotistical ambition and avarice. 

Let’s play games together to create what we never would have thought of creating on own. Let’s explore ways to (re)build families, communities, companies, institutions & nations together in harmony.

Let’s put to the test the hypothesis that individual achievement is a win for one’s ego, but collaborative success is a win for the collective.
